Of all the things I’ve learned as a member of the Arhaus Furniture team, one lesson will stick with me forever: “Retail is theatre.” This was the slogan we lived by as members of the Visual Department. Their belief in what the retail experience could and should be changed my entire perspective. 

They believe that your visit to their showrooms should be an experience—a place to be inspired. A combination of impeccable retail design and knowledgeable sales teams working as one: that is what gets you off your computer and into the brick-and-mortar showroom. They weren’t just selling a sofa or two, they want to sell you a beautiful, but attainable, dream of what your home could be. 

For more than five years, my work at the Harbor East location of Arhaus Furniture has been a labor of love. Some of my best and most inspired designs have come to life within those walls. Providing this experience for customers and creating an inviting and inspiring feeling of home has been my greatest motivation.

I collaborate with the sales team at my store and our corporate buyers to personally curate the perfect collection of furniture, lighting, accessories, and textiles for our unique market. Then from the bottom up, I create new and detailed vignettes, every two weeks, throughout the store.

Amid the ever-evolving aesthetic of the company and its consumers, I have been able to flex my literal and figurative design muscles by creating vignettes that range from the most ornate to the most subtle. From a luxurious living room with all the drama and opulence of a Broadway set, to a minimalist dining room filled with nothing but elegant simplicity, I have found inspiration in it all.
